At a time when we all have numerous stresses in our lives, it’s good for our mental health to recall that there are still many things to celebrate. Each year Compassionate Ballarat collects stories of compassion in action from our primary and secondary school students, and in 2023 its Compassion Heroes publication focused specifically on the collective work happening in schools. These stories encompass the remarkable work of Ballarat’s current students on food insecurity, homelessness, youth mental health, multicultural homework, anti-bullying, supporting young girls in developing countries, the benefits of being in nature to young children and those in aged care, committing to peace, supporting those in financial need, caring cross-generational exchanges, supporting nursery schools in Malawi, mentoring programs, tree planting for Landcare, and more. Take some time to be inspired by the compassionate work of young people.
